- SLDI Executive Director Terry Mock gave a presentation at the Mountain Green 2008 Annual Sustainability Conference at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina on June 25 entitled “Sustainable Land Development is an Intentional Paradox.”
- Mock, along with SLDI President Greg Yoko, and Sustainable Land Development Today Editorial Board member Rod Johnston were part of one session and two panel discussions at the annual BE Conference held by Bentley Systems in Baltimore, Maryland on May 28-30. Yoko also served as a juror for Bentley Systems’ 2008 BE Awards in four categories, including Sustaining Society and Sustaining the Environment.
- Rick Harrison, owner of Rick Harrison Site Design and a Preferred Provider and member of the Sustainable Land Development Today Editorial Board, was a keynote speaker for a session titled Green Housing and Urban and Suburban Redevelopment at the IRETO (International Real Estate Trade Organization) conference in Las Vegas this past May and served on the “Solutions to Global Sustainability Panel” with SLDI Executive Director Terry Mock.
- Steve Sletner, P.E., owner of TEC Design and a Preferred Provider and member of the Sustainable Land Development Today Editorial Board, joined SLDI President Greg Yoko in providing a full-day workshop on sustainable land development for the Texas Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers in April.
- Also in April, SLDI President Greg Yoko was a featured speaker at the Southern California chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects and provided an educational session on “Sustainability: Communicating the Vision Together.”
