Terry will provide an overview of current industry trends. He will also define and differentiate terms “green” and “­­­­­­sustainable” as they relate to neighborhoods and communities. He will also introduce the concept of balancing economic prosperity with environmental stewardship through public-private ­cooperation.

As the national economy, and especially the housing and land development segment, continue to experience a difficult period, Skip provides the essentials that allow developers, project teams, and communities to profitably meet the needs of the community through effective financial planning. It is equally important that developers and project teams provide adequate financial analysis to potential financial investors – including communities and taxpayers.

Sustainable Engineering  
Steve Sletner, P.E., President, TEC Design, Inc.

Steve combines 25 years of engineering experience with a Master of Business Administration. This tandem has allowed Steve to see the pragmatic and financial aspects of engineering decisions. He is a frequent speaker and often advises developers and communities on the how and why of existing engineering-related ordinances and how and why they need to be changed to allow for more sustainable neighborhoods and communities.

His exceptional project approval record (100%) for over 600 neighborhoods illustrates his ability to successfully communicate with city councils, planning commissions, developers and community residents. He is a frequent speaker at industry educational events.

Achieving True Sustainability

This panel will discuss and answer questions regarding the role of Sustainable Land Development International in assisting individuals, projects, and communities achieve sustainability.
