Pursuant to the Operating Agreement and Bylaws of Sustainable Land Development International, it is the duty of every member to promptly report any observed member’s or purported member’s violation of the following Ethical Standards of Professional Conduct to the SLDI Committee on Professional Conduct. Members ruled not in good standing with the Ethical Standards of Professional Conduct may have their membership restricted, suspended or barred, as determined by the committee. Fundamental Principle The practice of sustainable land development requires a holistic triple-bottom-line (people, planet and profit) orientation to the conversion of land uses, for the simultaneous benefit of today and future generations. Member Affidavit By becoming and maintaining status as a professional member, you pledge to: - uphold the integrity, honor and dignity of the land development professions by utilizing your experience, knowledge, skills and abilities for the enhancement of social and financial human welfare and the environment;
- maintain the highest degree of honesty and serve all current and future stakeholders with fidelity;
- continually seek out new knowledge, relationships, skills and technologies for yourself, your employees, and those within your sphere of influence to increase professional competence and the prestige of the land development industry as a whole;
- support the professional and technical industry societies and associations within the industry and your respective discipline;
- follow, to the best of your ability, SLDI’s Tenets of Sustainable Land Development.
Tenets of Sustainable Land Development Create Value – Members shall diligently pursue the maximization of economic value within the context of their project visions and their professional duties. Accept Responsibility – Members shall hold paramount the safety, health and welfare of the today’s public and future generations. Model Nature – Members shall respect our natural world and seek to understand its workings to sustain and restore the environment. Eliminate Waste – Members shall demonstrate leadership in bringing together and motivating a fragmented team of professionals to pursue collaborative efficiencies and effectiveness in development projects. Quality of Life – Members shall pursue the delivery of higher spiritual quality of life for all stakeholders, including enhanced access to spiritual wellness, educational, recreational, and safer environments. Energy Flows – Members shall pursue, to the best of their ability, renewable energy consumption opportunities within their development projects. Share Knowledge – Members shall actively share their valuable knowledge and experiences in the pursuit of the increased sustainable achievements on a global scale. Humans and Nature Co-exist – Members shall seek an interdependent relationship with nature, understanding that humans benefit from nature, and that nature must benefit from humans.
